Cutout photoshop experiment

I was inspired by all the cut-out concept art in the Incredibles Art book and I thought of a cool idea.  I could use the airbrush tool in photoshop to get some nice colors, and then use the cut out filter to generate some interesting shapes.

Yes! First week where I actually accomplished what I said I was going to do.  15 rough thumbnails of 3 different environments.

For the past 2 weeks, I kept on missing my quota. For the past couple of weeks, I've been struggling with the my concept, and I was kind of lost.  I didn't finish my story, and I didn't finish my characters.  I was trying to do too much at the same time.

It probably helped that I tried really hard.  And I actually tried.   I also think borrowing 5 Pixar books from the library: Art of Monsters Inc, Art of Wall-e, Art of Finding Nemo, Art of Finding Nemo, The Pixar Touch - helped inspire me.  I'll have some refined greyscales next week. Stay Tuned folks. (btw - yeah, I know some of these thumbs look really amateurish Julius, but I think I've gotten better as I kept on going, so I'm pretty happy.  If you have any tips or tricks, I would appreciate any of them. :)

Memorable Figure Drawing Session

I only posted 3 drawings because I felt these were my best ones. I don't think all of my stuff was really successful that day - but the model was very memorable.  He was playing music, had all these props, and was really in character.  He did this Titanic themed pose, a Passion of the Christ Pose, this really sad "Death of a Salesmen" like pose - and a bunch of others.  The model made it really feel like you were drawing a real character and there was a story behind the scene.  Overall - it was really fun and was a really memorable session.

Oh - and what I'm about to say has nothing to do with drawing. But I was playing 1v1 basketball with my friend Charles.  It was game point, and we both weren't making any shots because we were kind of tired.  At one point, I had the ball and was about to make a layup, but he blocks me to the point where I'm behind the backboard with no where else to go.  Desperate, I do a hail mary shot and throw the ball over the backboard and it goes it in the basketball.  Boom, I won the game with a behind the backboard shot.  What an awesome day.
